Code of Conduct

Deep Thunking Community Code of Conduct

Deep Thunking is a radically inclusive digital safe space where curiosity is honored and all skill levels belong. Our community is built on collaboration and respect, reflecting the best spirit of Open Source Software.

All members are required to follow these three core principles in every interaction.

1. Be Curious About Technology

We exist to learn. We expect members to approach discussions with an open mind, a willingness to teach, and a desire to explore.

  • No question is too basic. We actively encourage “beginner” questions. If you know the answer, explain the “how” and “why” with patience.
  • Explain Jargon. We commit to explaining technical terms clearly and welcomingly, ensuring no one is excluded by specialized language.

2. Be Yourself (Authentically)

Deep Thunking is a place to be authentic, not to hide behind technical walls or adopt an elite persona.

  • Practice Empathy. Be kind and considerate of others’ life experiences and communication styles. We all come from different backgrounds.
  • Respect Experience. We honor the unique experiences and skill levels of everyone—from the artist learning a new drawing program to the veteran infrastructure engineer.

3. Don’t Be a Jerk (Zero Tolerance)

This is a non-negotiable rule. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that undermines the safety and inclusivity of our community.

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Harassment, bullying, or the use of offensive comments related to identity (gender, race, religion, etc.).
  • Gatekeeping or elitism—any language intended to make others feel technically inferior or unwelcome.
  • Trolling, spamming, or deliberately disrupting discussions.
  • Doxing or sharing any member’s private information without explicit consent.

Enforcement

Violations of this Code of Conduct are taken seriously.

  • Reports can be made confidentially to any moderator.

The Moderation Team will investigate all reports and may take action ranging from a private warning up to immediate and permanent expulsion from the community. Our primary goal is always to protect the community space.
